Hi friends. After a pleasant trip back from Uganda (as pleasant as a 8 and then 10 hour flight in coach-seating can be), we arrived safely back home and in great spirits. Our families met us at the airport in baggage claim...a welcomed welcome.
After a day of taking it easy, we are back in the saddle. We've got a ton of media (pictures and video) and we'll try to share with you as we get to it. For now, here's a really great picture from Naigobya during the village dedication of the bore hole.
Watch the Borehole Dedication Video (250kb/s - 5 minutes)
I just noticed that I recognized several of the children in the bore hole picture are the same ones from the picture we used for the web site (you'll recognize them by their clothes - their only clothes). It reminded me again that these are real children...some of them with no known relatives living. Reminded me again how we need to be agressive in defending and advocating for these vulnerable children. The church and community are doing great work in caring for them the best they can. We have to keep helping!
We are looking at scheduling a Uganda party...share some stories, pictures, video clips, lessons learned, and future aspirations. I'm pretty sure that Mike and Paul will want to serve goat, but I'll make sure there's some other food, too. Details on the date/place coming soon, but we're looking at possibly Sunday night October 15th.
PS _ keep praying for the peace talks between the rebel group LRA and the Ugandan government. Talks on this 20-year long conflict were going well until the last couple days. This insurgency has resulted in thousands of children abducted for soldiering/slavery by the LRA, and currently about 1.8 million people displaced from their homes.
