Bibles for Naigobya |
| Saturday, April 05, 2008 |
Mike and Laureen brought back so many stories and amazing pictures of the improvements and changes happening in the village of Naigobya and beyond. Our most recent photos were from November of 2007. What a difference a few months have made! Each project has shown remarkable advances and the church and people are growing in so many ways. When people are empowered with the hope of Christ and have access to the means to change their lives, it is truly amazing!
The Church is thriving. They are too large to all fit within the shelter of the church roof. The hope of Christ and God’s promises are spreading well beyond the borders of Niagobya. Several new churches have been planted including one in the small village of Kyabazala (Cha-ba-zal-a). This village is following Niagobya’s example and has built a church shelter and also started a church school for orphans. The message of Christ is bringing amazing renewal to so many.
One of the many blessings from this trip was the gift of Lugandan bibles to both the Church in Niagobya and the new church in Kyabazala.
One of our many “friends of Niagobya” purchased the bibles which are translated in the village’s native Lugandan language. While English bibles abound, the average Ugandan does not have access to bibles in their more familiar native language. As you can see from the photo they just poured over the words. The reverence, passion and hunger for God’s word was indescribable.
