Naigobya Church School Update – March 2008 |
| Wednesday, April 09, 2008 |
The church sponsored school in Naigobya is doing well! This is another area of immense change since our last visit in August of 2007. Funds left on our last visit have been used to construct semi-permanent classroom shelters and purchase needed supplies. There are currently six classes with seven teachers. Each level has its own classroom. The preschoolers still meet under the tree as they await more space.
The Head Master and Teachers are all volunteers who donate their time. Some travel long distances to serve the children.
The children of our partner, Emmaus Road Church, generously raised funds for the Naigobya School. Funds raised by Emmaus Road Church were left and will be used to purchase curriculum and school supplies such as tablets, pencils and chalk. They will also be used to purchase bicycles to aid some of the teachers in their travel to the school.
Mike and Laureen visited on a Saturday when school was not in session. The teachers and students are so proud of their school that they traveled to the school to meet with them and show them what they are all about. The pictures below are from the various classrooms showing the students, teachers and a little of what they were currently learning.
This small church school shines light and hope on the future of the children of Naigobya. You can see it in their faces!
