Naigobya Health Center Update March 2008 |
| Thursday, April 10, 2008 |
The Naigobya Health Center continues to make a difference in the health of the village. In the past two months, they have continued to treat hundreds of patients, many of them children.
The clinic is well-managed by Joshua, who is the lead medical professional. They have recently begun two new initiatives that will greatly benefit the community. Joshua has started an immunization project to ensure that the children have the proper vaccines. This involves monthly trips to the city of Iganga to purchase the vaccines and supplies. This investment in prevention will reap future rewards of better health in the villages children, many of which are orphans.
The second initiative involves equipping the Health Center with lab equipment and staff for early detection of disease. Paul (pictured below with Mike and Joshua) will attend training and return to the clinic as a Lab Technician. Early diagnosis of simple diseases will aid in correct and timely treatment before they develop into something more serious.
The Health Center was opened in September 2007. It is providing the basic care, prevention and awareness that is so vital to the well being of the village.
