First drops |
| Sunday, September 10, 2006 |
From Charles by email on 9/9/06:
On Thursday I was at Naigobya when they were installing the last pieces of metal on the borehole (the well pipe). I saw the first drops of water pumped out of the borehole...
Wow! This is amazing! Now the water will be tested, and the project will be finished with a cement pad (for long-life of the pump head and to prevent contamination by keeping groundwater from running back into the pipe) and the country-standard hand-pump (standardized for ease of getting replacement parts). To everyone who had a part in this...I say THANK YOU! And you'll hear the thank you's from mothers who won't have to bury their infants, and from children who won't have to walk 10 miles to get clean water for the family.
We'll be there in less than 7 days! The well commissioning is next sunday. God willing, we'll make all our connecting flights and be there to witness this village-wide gathering and celebration!
Love w|o an agenda -
Troy
